Memorial Day Remembrance

I will be remembering all those who gave their life for our country during this Memorial Day weekend.  This year I will especially remember Captain Kimberly Hampton.  I just finished reading her story in a great book, Kimberly's Flight, and if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

Kimberly grew up in nearby Easley, SC and graduated from Presbyterian College where she was a Tennis Standout.  She was also very active in the ROTC program and eventually joined the army and became a helicopter pilot.  Her helicopter was shot down over Iraq and she was the first woman killed in combat in the history of the United States.  This book is inspiring and educational.  I learned so much more about the military and their families, the American Gold Star Mothers Program and the War in Iraq.  The photo below is used with permission of the authors of the book:  Anna Simon and Kimberly's mother, Ann Hampton.

Getting to Know The Author, John Warley

I have always admired anyone who has special talents especially gifted writers and I am doubly impressed when they actually have books published.  I just know how many people talk about writing a book but never even start or people who have been writing on the same book for years but never get it published.  It takes that extra something to go the extra mile and follow through with a dream.
This is why I have enjoyed getting to know Author John Warley.  Oh, I have never met him face to face but I feel like I have.  We have a mutual friend and after I read John's Book, The Moralist, I asked my friend if he thought John would mind if I created a Book Review of The Moralist on Squidoo.  He was so helpful and even ended up joining Squidoo himself and publishing his first article.  I am looking forward to more articles (called lenses on Squidoo) from John Warley
If you haven't read The Moralist, now would be a good time.  See the link to the facebook fan page on the right of this page?  Just go "like" that page and I will let you in on a little secret.  John is offering a special on the Kindle version of his book for as little as $1.99 when you buy it from my Squidoo Book Review.  It is a fun book to read and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and as much as John Warley enjoyed writing it.  This book is a Social - Political Satire set in Fictional Centerfield, Texas.
