Bullying In Middle Schools

Bullying in our Middle Schools has really become a major problem and many schools are working hard to get it under control with Anti-bullying programs.  I was so pleased when my grandson came home the last day of his 6th grade with the book Bystander by James Preller.  He said that everyone who will be going into the 7th grade was given a copy of this book and told to read it over the summer and be ready to discuss it in the fall.  He read it the next few days and asked me if I wanted to read it.  I always try to read anything that he has read so that we can talk about so of course, I told him I would.  I am sure glad I did because I think our school district has made a great step in the right direction to fight Bullying.  This book has such believable characters and ones that this age group can easily identify with.  I am anxious to learn how it will be used in the classroom next year and have talked to some of the faculty who are very excited about it's potential.
